We have outlined guidance, which we would encourage you to follow:
BSO HR do not wish for any staff members to experience heightened stress at work. Managers play a key role in the Prevention and Reduction of work-related stress and should utilise the 'Managing Stress Toolkit - Risk Assessment for staff suffering from work related stress’.
Please note this Toolkit should ideally be used in a proactive way i.e. prior to an employee becoming unwell and being absent from work. Managers must first meet with the employee to identify the causes of work stressors, attempt to reduce/eradicate the stressors and agree a return to work.
The toolkit is designed to facilitate this discussion to look at all areas of affected staffs role and remit; the toolkit looks a 6 areas and the potential causes of your work related stressors, to include:
- The job demands
- Control you may have, e.g. over deadlines
- Support both from management and colleagues as well as resources available
- Relationships, i.e. how you get on with your colleagues
- Your Job Role, e.g. goals and objectives
- Organisational Change
Managers and employees must discuss resolutions of work place stressors and agree temporary and/or permanent amendments to the employees role, bearing in mind that the employee has a responsibilities at their current banding.
Should a return to work not be successful following this exercise then a referral to Occupational Health may be applicable.
